Hi. I’m Adrianne. This is my first post.
As I’ve been thinking of what I want this first post to be, I’ve had a lot of writer’s block. Wanting to make a good first impression has been holding me back. So that got me thinking about how we deal with making first impressions. For me, I find that meeting new people comes with a lot of nervousness and apprehension. While some people thrive off of making new friends, some of us are just more comfortable staying in our own bubble of the people who already know us.
As a new year at uni approaches, it can be difficult to prepare yourself to meet new people. Just know that you don’t have to be the biggest, most outgoing version of yourself for people to like you. Don’t exhaust yourself so that others will have a good time in your presence. Usually people’s first impressions of you says more about themselves than it does about you. So just be yourself and you will find your people.
Also just remember that, particularly for freshers, everyone is in the same boat. Everyone is trying to make good first impressions. The majority of people are trying to make new friends as well as you so don’t be too hard on yourself. Just have fun with it.
